Split votes

Motions where at least one council member voted no, or the motion failed, as recorded in the minutes and on signed ordinances and resolutions. Each row links to the meeting and the page it was read from.
Counted motions with a known result (carried or failed) only. A split vote has at least one recorded "no" vote or a failed result. Motions whose result could not be read, and motions that died for lack of a second, were withdrawn or tabled (no vote taken) are left out. Dissent rates divide a member's "no" votes by the votes they cast that year; ayes implied from attendance ("All ayes" with the members present) count as cast, as the minutes state them. Agreement uses only motions on which both members' votes are recorded by name (a named list, a roll call, or a signed certificate counted in place of the minutes); votes implied from attendance are left out, and pairs with fewer than 20 shared votes (30 for split votes only) are not shown. A signed certificate that repeats a minutes vote is never counted twice. Rates count only votes cast within a member's council terms. Motions from meetings whose minutes state another date that nothing confirms are left out of the list (see the coverage page).

"No" votes by member

Per member and calendar year: votes cast (aye, no, abstain) on motions with a known result, the "no" votes and abstentions, and the share of votes cast that were "no". "Named" counts only votes recorded by name (not implied from attendance). Votes are counted only within the member's council terms. "(few recorded)" marks years in which most motions have no vote rows at all (the minutes say "carried" without names or attendance), so the share rests on a minority of the motions. Open a member for their full voting record.

MemberYearsVotes cast NamedNoAbstainShare no

How often members voted alike

Each cell is the share of motions on which both members' votes are recorded by name and they voted the same way (both aye or both no). Darker means more often alike, relative to the other pairs in this matrix. Pairs with fewer than 20 such motions (30 for split votes only) are not shown (—). Members are ordered so that those who voted alike most often sit next to each other; the order is not a grouping.
