After the fire chief's resignation in September 2025, the council approved a full-time fire chief job description (November 2025), hired a chief on a 3–2 vote in February 2026, designated the assistant chiefs as acting chief, and appointed an interim fire chief in May 2026. Review of the job description and hiring process resumed in October 2026.
