Potter explained that the City of Tiffin would like to annex this area as the landowners have requested this in submission of voluntary annexation papers. At an earlier joint meeting, Mayor Fausett indicated that only one council member and the Mayor had attended when all of the Coralville council had been present. During that meeting Mayor Fausett had suggested a joint fire station and jointly used ball diamonds. No further exchange has taken place between Tiffin and Coralville. On concern that was raised by Coralville City Engineer was Tiffin's ability to plan and provide city services such as water. The clerk reminded Engineer Holderness that information on recent floodplain filling effort along Clear Creek had been requested nearly two months ago. Engineer Holderness had indicated at that time that he would provide written substantiating permission for the City of Coralville to fill dirt into the floodplain downstream from the City of Tiffin. The floodplain changes create concern about the possibility of flooding upstream in the vicinity Tiffin homes. Engineer Holderness had earlier indicated that this land filling work would cause no effect to the city and Holderness again expressed his willingness to send information substantiating this assurance that no flooding would be caused in Tiffin by current work in Coralville. Tiffin City Engineer Hart asked Mr. Holderness how long Western Hills Trailer Court had been supplied with city sewer lines. Holderness replied the trailer court has received city services about two years ago. Hart asked how long the trailer court had been inside the City of Coralville. It was noted that the trailer court had been taken in by Coralville nearly 30 years ago. This raises some question as to ability of the City of Coralville to supply timely provision of city services. Holderness also mentioned that much of the growth plans followed gravity sewer lines, and asked how Tiffin might service these areas. Tiffin noted that lift stations were an option. Holderness said these were not good for a plan. It was noted that a recent Browndeer Subdivision in Coralville had nearly half a dozen or more lift stations as part of sewer design. Holderness said that at least three of the lift stations have been removed at this time. It was thought Tiffin could use a similar planning and design if necessary. Keith Stroyan reiterated a desire that has been forward under correspondence received by both the City of Tiffin and the City of Coralville, they he and many of his neighbors have no desire to be annexed by either City. None of the area is under consideration for annexation. Hart congratulated Coralville officials that was recently made.
