I do have some questions that have come up tonight. I think you'd want your city engineer to look at the plans and lines and get his opinion. Our bringing in some street, I doubt that there'd be a problem with dedication of them. I don't know how you can bring in property with streets and not have the streets. It can't be a private drive. You'd want an agreement drawn up that they would agree to future assessments, if that area should develop. You may want to run water and sewer lines past that property and you may want to assess it, and you would want them to waive their objections to assessment. Make it clear that the city will not run any lines out there until it wishes to do so. Five years down the line, Miss Potterfield will know that whatever they've got, it is their problem as far as water and sewer are concerned. You have not discussed zoning. It's currently R-S in county. City would have to put zoning on it.
Cox: If council approved it, it would not have any effect on future development. We're only talking about one area now.
Sladek: One would not affect the other. If the "L" shape comes in as R-1, it could have more development.
Grace: I'm not here to zone something today. I'm here to help them out.
Sladek: Can't bring it to a motion unless the council is prepared to vote on it and the council is not prepared to vote until the engineer has seen it and the agreements have been drawn up. Once it is approved, you can't undo it as easily.
Johnston: Would that be part of the building permit?
Sladek: Once inside the city, the city have to provide services. It becomes the city's responsibility to service areas inside the city. It should be approved after the agreements are on file, if it will be approved at all.
Johnston: I wish you'd told me before this.
Sladek: Water pressure problem didn't come up until tonight.
Morgan: Monday's meeting is only four days away. What is the big hurry?
Rohret: Have public hearing on annexation itself.
Sladek: They are operating under the law. Don't need a public hearing or notices under the Code.
