Williams: I'm interested in the big annexation. Have you had time to talk with other older people in town as to whether they want to see their taxes keep mounting as they have in the last three or four years? I don't like what's happening to me. This is only a small thing, but we have a big thing coming up. Have you thought about water and sewer there? It all ties in together. She did not buy this without knowing that we have turned down utilities to that property before. This is not the first time that this has come up. Johnston: When she bought it she assumed she would do it as a county project. When we found out that Bill Grace would cooperate and possible the city could have it - I'm not going to speak to his reasons but I've known Bill Grace since high school. This particular piece of land will not cost the city anything and in fact it will be a tax paying revenue producing item for Tiffin. What you do about the other stands entirely on its own. They are separate issues. I can't speak to the larger issues that you've addressed. Cox: Water system isn't large enough. Only way we can pay for a new one is by having annexation. Williams: You're paying for it right now. Cox: I'm talking about a new water tower. Williams: Just by bringing someone in isn't going to pay for it. Chris Rohret: I agree. When you annex you also have added costs, too. As a citizen who lives up on the hill, I'm not interested. Look ahead and say that this is something that could lead to more annexation. I like Tiffin the size it is now. Citizen: How can they get by without a lift station on the sewer system? Cox: They would pay for lift station and it would be approved by engineer. All we would be supplying is water and they'd pump sewer up to where it is now. Johnston: Yes, that's right. Citizen: Could we see drawing? Rohret: Mrs. Langenberg is the last one up there and she has nothing for water pressure. I can imagine what it's be like pumping over a hill. We simply do not have the capacity. Williams: You don't have enough pressure down the hill. Citizen: What are the relationships to Bill Grace's property? Stoffer: We're joining in this petition simply to satisfy them. We do not have a bigger piece of ground. We only have to have 200 feet wide for a corridor. It is not suitable at all for development. Larger development would be a hard decision on the part of the council to make, and we don't want to tie that hard decision into what should be an easy decision, to accommodate one house on one property.
