Minutes of the meeting in April were read and approved.
Handy Kobold was sworn in as new Town Clerk.
Jeff Wombacher of the University Gun Club asked the Council if the John Saxon Road could be extended to Highway C. Mr. Heuzil stated the town would have to buy the right of way if the road was to be extended.
Mr. Wombacher explained to the Council about the University Gun Club. He asked if the Council has any objections to the Club being open more than the present one night a week. It has no objections.
Keith Fechley of the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company was present to inquire about the status of the proposed sub-station the Light Co. wants to build. This matter was discussed. Leonard Vorel presented a petition signed by seventeen property owners stating they do not want the Light Co. building on the land they have purchased. It was pointed out there is a town ordinance stating that in order to build a building other than a dwelling they must have the written consent of the adjoining property owners.
The Council prefers the Light Co. build on property owned by Mrs. Leona Rogers. Since Mrs. Rogers' property is not in Tiffin, Ted Spivey suggested Mrs. Rogers make a voluntary request to annex to the Town. This way the Light Co. could deal directly with her.
Leonard Vorel requested a building permit for an addition to his home. Ted Spivey moved and Ned Allen seconded the motion to grant him a permit upon the receipt of $10.00 for the permit. All in favor.
John Shumway requested a building permit for an addition. Ned Allen made the motion to grant him a permit upon the receipt of $10.00. Ted Spivey seconded it. All in favor.
Mr. Heuzil had no report to make on the railroad crossing at this time.
Mr. Heuzil said at this point everything looks good on the water system. He said the highest probable maximum flooding titeracy that will go with the FMR. He talked with Mr. Roy Mitchell, who is associated with Cameron and Sullivan & Company. Mr. Heuzil sent Mr. Mitchell the basic data of the floodplain for his to render an opinion. He has not received an answer at this time.
