Clerk stated that she talked with Johnson County auditor's office and was told that borrowing $80,000.00 in general obligation bonds and repaying in 10 years would cause a tax increase on a home assessed at $50,000.00 of about $135.00 the first years and decreasing to $90.00 the last year, or an average of $100.00 per year.

Bill Verry reported that surface water created a problem on his property. Potter stated that city had just spent over $3,600.00 to install pump at sewer plant to prevent flooding of plant and sewer backing up into basements. Council also checked of price of photographing lines but was advised that this would not be the best solution because it might not show breaks in lines after money was spent anyway. Verry stated that he though someone broke tile lines when apartment on College Street were installed and that installation of Third Street extension created water drainage problems also. Potter stated that ditches need to be dug deeper because they are not deep enough to hold all the water in that area. Verry stated that the drainage problem was on the back of his property. Potter instructed Cox to meet with Verry and work out a solution other than a storm sewer.
Motion Cox second Rohret to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. Carried unanimously.
