Ryan: Leave it as is. I can maintain my 10 feet and others can then do what they want. Motion Spivey second Stratton to vacate alley between College and Grant streets and sell 10' x 60' sections of alley between College and Grant streets to adjacent property owners for $100 each. Roll call vote: Spivey, aye; Stoner, aye; Morgan, aye; Stratton, aye; Eggers, aye. Motion carried. Greenleaf reported that one of the heirs to the property through which the city wants access to the water tower thought that the city wanted to put a 60 foot street through there. Greenleaf told her the city had contacted her attorney and the city in fact asked for a 25 foot strip through the property to the water tower. Attorneys have not yet responded. They have to call meeting of heirs to decide what to do. Hart: I spoke to Leonard Vorel last week. He said he would talk to rest of people after I explained to him that the city wanted only a 10 or 12 foot driveway. Ee have not heard from him since. Greenleaf: Will call attorney of heirs next week? Motion Spivey second Morgan to table resolution approving easement to water tower until June council meeting because of no report from the heirs to the Rogers property. Approved unanimously. Potter talked to Tom Morgan about Spring Clean-Up Day. Potter said Morgan has resigned as fire chief and nothing can be done about setting date until next fire meeting. IDOT representative, Dick Ockereack, spoke to council about the possibility of hooking up rest areas on Interstate 80 to city water system. They are currently having an iron problem with water supply, and would like to discuss the alternative of hooking up to Tiffin water system. Ockereack thought a possible hook-up site would be the southwest corner of the city, with the line running along the county road that leads to the Interstate. He said the problem would be going under the railroad tracks with the line. He also wanted to know hook-up charges and if the city would share construction costs. He said he needs to find out how receptive the council is to the idea. The other alternative for the IDOT is to build a water treatment facility at the rest area on the west-bound side of I-80. Stoner: How much water usage? Ockereack: It varies. We used 65,000 gallons in February and 330,000 gallons in August of last year... Hart: Averages cut to between 2,100 to 11,000 gallons per day.
