Ockereact: How much for hook-up fee?
Clerk: $75.00.
Hart: City would be in the position of you installing the main. That's a $70,000 plus job. I don't think they want to see it as a $75 dollar hook-up fee to a $100,000 project.
Spivey: It's a bad time to ask about water. City was told to go easy on water last year.
Hart: We have capability to furnish water at that rate.
Spivey: How long will wells hold up?
Potter: If they drill another well, will they be in same aquifer as we are?
Hart: They are probably already in it at a higher strata.
Ockereact: What does city charge for water?
Clerk: $9.50 for first 3000 gallons and $3.00 per each thousand gallons after that.
Hart: Would be like adding eight more residences onto Tiffin.
Stoner: It would be a good source of revenue.
Hart: They're not saying for sure they want to do it. He just need figures.
Council consensus to consider request by IDOT to hook into city water main for use at rest areas west of Tiffin.
Gregg Geerdes, attorney for Iowa State Bank, reported that the property south of Railroad Street between Grant and College (formerly Bream Bins) has been sold to Johnson County and asked that the city rezone the property to M-1 (industrial) and amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow maintenance storage facilities in M-1 zones. Glen Meisner, county engineer, reported that the county intends to use the building for storage of road equipment, just as they currently do with the building on Railroad Street. He also stated that the county will tear down the old building and sell the property. Meisner asked about moving equipment right away. City attorney advised against using the building in this capacity until the zoning has been changed.
