Potter: I sent Smelser to clean it out. If we do that and the tube collapsed, the railroad said it was their problem. Scheetz: The railroad seemed receptive. Herring: I'm not speaking as a city employee, but as a homeowner on that side of town, if the flow of the water is blocked up, the south end of town would flood. You'd have to run up hill to go to the east. Scheetz: It's not up hill to the east. Potter: What about putting it into our corn field? Hart: It would go over the tracks. Carpenter: The water was coming over the tracks. We couldn't eliminate that. Hart: This was not a run off. We're talking about elevations here. The raising of the creek caused the problem. The dike was okay. A blocked up culvert didn't cause the trailer court to flood. It flooded because the creek raised. The first run off problem went down. The flash flood in the evening caused the problem. The culvert is not the issue. The height of the dike is an issue. A plugged culvert could have caused the water not to drain away. The elevation difference between both sides of the tracks is not that great. I met with the railroad. Scheetz wants to correct the problem at the trailer court by installing a dike on their right of way. Culvert on west side of town has to go to the west end of the football field on the school property. The town ought to put a culvert under the tracks closer to the road. The railroad will benefit but they won't help you pay for it. Potter: Get an estimate for the culvert on the west side of the tracks. Morgan: What is the trailer court asking of the town? Barnes: We're not. Morgan: The media sounds like it. Barnes: The media has not said that. Herring, Jr: It was on the channel 9 news. Barnes: I didn't see that broadcast. Potter: Are there any more questions? Hart: Shall I apply for aid the culverts? What is Scheetz's request? Scheetz: More money to build dike by railroad. I'd like to do everything I can to correct it. Potter: Not seal off the culvert? Scheetz: No. Redirect it to the east and the other side of the dike. Brown: What effect would this have on the sewer plant? Potter: None. What about the dike at the sewer plant?
