JOINT MEETING Tiffin City Council and Coralville City Council Mayor Potter indicated that Tiffin is hopeful that an area directly west of Coralville along the Clear Creek could be used for city park area, ball and soccer fields. Coralville representatives reported that a shortage of flat area like this would give them interest in a cooperative effort for recreation if it were possible that it could have mutual use. Mayor Potter noted that Tiffin residents are presently using the Coralville recreational and library services on a per pay basis and noted that Coralville extends excellent services to their citizens. Kelly Hayworth reported that he has received recent word that Coralville is recipient of REAP funds for purchasing open space along Deer Creek and the west border of Coralville. This places trail efforts of the two cities within one quarter mile of one another. Cooperative efforts on trail connection was agreed by both cities. Coralville also noted that Tiffin would want to consider where streets might connect in to Coralville planning along I-380. Coralville planning maps will be sent out to Tiffin, so that this planning can be better made. Kelly Hayworth reported recent agreements between Iowa City and Coralville regarding extent of growth for the two cities at their I-80 and Highway 218 boundary. Coralville would like to make some kind of 28-E agreement with Tiffin in this same regard. Tiffin officials agreed that this could be studied and pursued in the future. Hayworth explained that CDBG funding has been used to connect sewer service to the Western Hills trailer park. Mayor Potter noted that this service has finally been provided after a wait of approximately 20 years. Coralville officials said that it might be difficult to extend a bus service the mile from the Western Hills Trailer Park to the edge of Tiffin development any time soon, as the Coralville bus service is now being subsidized by the General Fund at a cost of approximately one-half million dollars. Coralville is not providing any park and ride locations at this time and at present has made no plans for that kind of transportation connector. Mayor Fausett expressed appreciation for attendance at this meeting effort. Margaret B. Reihman, CMC City Clerk/Treasurer, City of Tiffin
