than on the south. Center of our proposed water line would be 30 feet away from the sewer line. We have at this time an existing easement 20 feet wide, 10 feet on each side of the sewer easement. The State Department of Health will not let us lay a wager pipe closer than 10 feet from a sewer line. We could technically go right on the 10 foot mark and be on our own property except for: (1) the old easement that was granted for the sewer indicated that if there is ever a water line laid, they would have to lay it on the south side of the sewer, and (2) the engineer was out here stating that he has to have a work area to lay the pipe. After Clements sign the easement, it will be necessary to have Marion Evans sign one, which will miss his trailer house. Water Tower Site. Mr. Neuzil talked to Bill Tucker and received a copy of an opinion from the Attorney General which the mayor had delivered from Des Moines. Three possibilities for acquiring the site from the school were brought out: (1) to dispose of school property, it must be appraised, published in the paper two consecutive weeks, open bids in another two weeks; (2) condemn the land; this would also be time-consuming; (3) obtain a 99 year lease; Mayor will call the Des Moines FHA office to see if they will approve the lease plan, since it would be the fastest. Water Tower. Wayne Reed thinks that if the FHA approves the tank, we can let it go on a separate contract. In that case, if we could go to a separate bid for the removal of the tank, we could proceed immediately. Street Extension. On April 5, Mr. Neuzil wrote a letter to Ken Ingham offering $1,000. On April 20, he sent a follow-up letter since there had been no reply. There still has been no answer from him. Gasoline. Mr. Neuzil will see about getting forms so that the town does not have to pay tax on gasoline purchased for town vehicles. Johnson County Civil Defense. Mayor proposed to tell them it is not the fact that we are disinterested; we would hope to remain up-to-date and interested in the Regional Planning Commission, but we feel that our limited funds are more expeditiously spent in other areas. Johnson County Board of Health: The State and University contribute personnel, nursing services, water analyses and laboratory facilities. The state provides operating funds for each county. The cities and towns are expected to contribute an amount of money based on their net worth to carry this annual budget. Glen moved, Ted seconded the motion to write and tell them that we intend to budget $320.00 in the 1969 budget, and send an explanation to the Regional Planning Commission.
