Minutes of Special Council Meeting, July 21, 1969, Tiffin, Iowa. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem Spivey. Present: Allen, Flansburg, Moore & Potter. Also Attorney Neuzil, Mr. and Mrs. Al Miller, Mr. Burton, and members of the school board. Absent: Bream The School board asked the Council if there was a possibility of constructing a road from Third Street up to the new high school. They pointed out there is only one access to the school and that is on Highway 6. The Council said it has discussed a road to the school several times, but Mr. Ingham wants about $1600 for the lot and they didn't think there was enough money to buy the lot. Mr. Reed and one of his associates estimated it would cost about $1000 to construct the road. Mr. Neuzil will contact Mr. Ingham to see if the lot is still for sale. The budget for 1970 was discussed. Discussion was held on the diseased elm trees by Highway 6. The Clerk will write the District Engineer of the Highway Commission in Cedar Rapids about the trees, since they are on the Commission's property. The tubes under the railroad tracks were again discussed. In a letter to Mr. Neuzil from Sydney Schachtmeister of the Health Dept. he said he personally inspected them and couldn't see that they were plugged up. The Clerk will write him inviting him to the next meeting. Glenn Potter made the motion to adjourn and Ned Allen seconded it. All in favor. Kandy Kobold Town Clerk
