TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
DATE: July 1, 2025
AGENDA ITEM: Discussion of Drainage Improvement at the Fire Station
ACTION: Discussion
Purpose
To discuss and receive Council feedback on addressing drainage issues primarily on the north
side of the Fire Station. With the timing of the Original Town Phase 3 project and contractor L.L.
Pelling soon to be mobilized in the area, this may be an opportune time to implement a drainage
solution.
Background
Drainage concerns have been identified at the north side of the Fire Station, particularly with
water pooling near north side of the building. This issue was previously discussed during
the February budget meeting, and potential solutions were developed.
Options for Consideration
MSA has provided seven design alternatives, four (4) of the alleyway and three (3) for the
parking lot. Each option varies in scope, effectiveness, and cost. These drainage options for the
fire station are attached for consideration.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends Council discuss the options and provide direction on whether to proceed with
proposed improvements, particularly on the north side of the building. If Council wishes to
move forward, staff will coordinate with L.L. Pelling and MSA to finalize scope and pricing.
