Comparing and contrasting the two previous charts, during some of the highest periods of
call volumes is when the department has the fewest number of responders available.
STAFFING CONCERNS
Utilizing the information from the previous charts, there are multiple staffing issues to
consider:
Lack of Responders
• With no guarantee that PPC personnel will be available, the level of staffing at
any point of the day is relatively unknown.
• The only time that a responder is known to be in town and available for calls is
between 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. A crew of one is not an ideal
response for any type of emergency call.
Lack of Station Presence
• Although paid station time is a benefit of our current SAFER grant, there is no
guarantee that personnel will be at the station at any point of the day. This
includes the current full-time position, who utilizes office space in the public
works building.
• The current station is not equipped with amenities that support 24/7 staffing.
Response Reliability
• With no guarantee that PPC personnel will be available, the level of staffing at
any point of the day is relatively unknown.
• TFD has seen an uptick in multiple emergency calls occuring at the same time.
o 2025 – 13 overlapping calls to date (31 incidents)
o 2024 – 33 overlapping calls (77 incidents)
