RESOLUTION NO. 2004-31 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SUBMIT ORDINANCE NO. 2004-268; THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE ORDINANCE AND THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE BALLOT QUESTION TO THE JOHNSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER OF ELECTIONS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF SAID ORDINANCE AND QUESTION TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF NORTH LIBERTY, IOWA, AT AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 17, 2004. WHEREAS, the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa has received petition from South Slope Cooperative Telephone Company requesting that the cable television franchise proposal be submitted to the voters at a special City election, and WHEREAS, the City Council has selected August 17, 2004 as a date for a special election on the proposal for cable television franchise, and WHEREAS, the City Council has enacted Ordinance No. 2004-268, which grants a ten-year non-exclusive franchise to South Slope Cooperative Telephone company following the election to be held August 17, 2004. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa that: 1. The City Clerk is hereby directed to certify copies of Ordinance No. 2004-268 to the Johnson County Commissioner of Elections for placement and posting of said ordinance in the ballot booth at a special election to be held on August 17, 2004. 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to submit the following question to the Commissioner of Elections for submission to the voters at a special election to be held on August 17, 2004: Shall franchise Ordinance No. 2004-268 of the City of Tiffin, Iowa, be approved and the City Council of Tiffin authorized to grant a non-exclusive cable television franchise for ten years to South Slope Cooperative Telephone Company?
