TOWN OF TIFFIN TIFFIN, IOWA 52340 The regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council was held on May 1, 1974, 7:30 p.m. Mayor Brotherton presiding. Present: Roger Janssen, Beverly Birtcher, Judy Smith, Attorney Neuzil. Absent: Glenn Potter and Bill Bream. Edna Miller and Louis Vorel present to discuss dead tree between their properties. It was determined that the tree is on city property. Beverly Birtcher will get bids to have the tree removed. Roger Janssen moved and Beverly Birtcher seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting. Motion carried by roll call vote. Roger Janssen moved and Judy Smith seconded a motion to accept the Treasurer-Clerk's report. In the absence of the Street Commissioner, Mayor Brotherton gave a report on streets. We are getting new bids from Pelling for work to be done on streets. It was decided that Ralph Brown could patch holes in the parking lot at the high school as he has time. The school will reimburse the town for his time and material. Mr. Willy Cox from Clark's Outdoor Spraying Company was present to discuss a mosquito control program for Tiffin. No action was taken. Judy Smith moved and Roger Janssen seconded a motion giving approval to Beverly Birtcher to purchase shrubbery and plants to beautify the park area for a maximum amount of $175.00. Motion carried by roll call vote. Discussion on garbage pick-up. Clerk to send Vern Aubrecht revised bill from Land-fill omitting the charges for May-June and Miscellaneous Loads. Beverly Birtcher moved to transfer $520.00 plus interest from Federal Revenue Sharing to Public Safety. Roger Janssen seconded the motion. Motion carried by roll call vote. Discussion on salary raise for Ralph Brown. It was decided to bring up the matter when all Council members are present. Beverly Birtcher moved and Roger Janssen seconded a motion to accept the following receipts and pay the following bills. Motion carried by roll call vote.
