Minutes-5 /10/1978

TOWN OF TIFFIN TIFFIN, IOWA 52340 Tiffin City Council held regular session May 10, 1978 in City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Formanek presiding called roll at 7:42 p.m. Councilmembers present: G. Potter, T. Morgan, and R. Sheridan. Others present A. Christofferson, V. Long, C E. Koch, R. Buss and B. Murray. Potter moved and Sheridan seconded to hold special session May 24th, 7:30 p.m., City Hall to consider a franchise ordinance for General Telephone Co., to hold election and post notice of siad meeting. Carried unanimously. (Councilmember J. Stratton present at 8:01 p.m.) Mayor Formanek appointed Clear Creek Leader official publisher. Morgan motioned, Sheridan seconded to approve April 12th regular meeting minutes. Carried with Potter abstaining. Potter motioned, Morgan seconded to approve April financial report. Carried unanimously. Sheridan moved to appoint Shive, Hattery Associates as consulting engineers for City, being retained on lump sum basis at $475.00 per year from May 10, 1978 to May 10, 1979. Morgan seconded and carried unanimously. Sheridan motioned, Potter seconded for adoption of Ordinance 75-1978, authorizing fluoridation of public water supply of said City. Carried unanimously. Potter motioned, Stratton seconded to enter into contract agreement with Shive, Hattery Associates to provide City of Tiffin plans and specifications for furnishing installation equipment, with fee for design not to exceed $500.00. Carried unanimously. Potter motioned, Morgan seconded to enter into agreement with Johnson County for implementation of Community Development Block Grant. Carried unanimously. Sheridan moved on a resolution adopting report for State Department of Transportation, Morgan seconded and carried unanimously. Solid waste removal bids for contract will be opened and read June 14th. One year contract starts July 1, 1978. Potter motioned, Stratton seconded to accept receipts and pay bills, following. Carried unanimously.
