Attorney will contact railroad company and tell them they will be sued if deep holes along tracks where signals used to be are not properly filled to eliminate their danger.
Attorney stated that Tiffin could adopt the state's uniform building code. Don't know if addresses issue of manufactured homes.
Spivey: Don't have means of inspecting and enforcing it.
Attorney: Manufactured homes are inspected at factory. The building code would be for all buildings.
Stevens: Let Iowa City pass their ordinance and put a similar one first on our agenda next month.
Council directed attorney to draw up amendment to zoning ordinance requiring homes to be at least 20 feet wide outside of the trailer court, manufactured homes converted to real property according to state code and taxed as such and meet federal requirements of manufactured homes.
Engineer reported that currently the specifications for the new tower contract do not call for pitting on inside of tower to be fixed. Don't expect major repair. Will know what it is after sandblasting.
Cox: We were told that any pit over 1/16 inch would be fixed. Engineer will review notes on this matter.
Potter reported that contractor never called back about pump. Engineer stated that contractor did not want to trade a pump for the 30 day extension. Present pump has capacity of 34 gal./minute. A 5 horsepower pump had capacity of 50 gal./minute. Putting in new motor and leaving same equipment would cost about $2974.00 ($850.00 for pump and rest for piping.) If existing pipe in good shape could install for $1600.00. If satisfied with present pump, will leave in place. If it does not keep tank full, will need new pump.
Council consensus to paint "Tiffin" on east and west side of tower.
