Minutes - April 10, 1985 The Tiffin City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, April 10, 1985 at the Tiffin fire station. Mayor Potter called meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Councilmembers present were Cox, Morgan, Runge, Spivey and Stevens. Also present were Attorney Lynch, Engineer Snyders, Bill Runge, Judy Stephenson, Ken Schwartz, Walter Wynes, Amanda Potterfield, Joe Johnston and members of the high school government class. Motion Spivey second Morgan to approve agenda. Carried unanimously. Motion Stevens second Runge to approve minutes of March 13, 1985. Carried unanimously. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1979-83 OF THE ORDINANCES OF TIFFIN, IOWA BY REPEALING SECTION 15 OF THE ORDINANCE AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF SECTION 15 AS OUTLINED BELOW PROVIDING FOR A NEW M-1 INDUSTRIAL ZONE USE CLASSIFICATION was introduced by Morgan. Mayor Potter read ordinance and council considered it. Its adoption was moved by Councilman Morgan and seconded by Councilman Runge. Roll call vote: Cox, aye; Morgan, aye; Runge, aye; Spivey, aye; Stevens, aye. Mayor declared motion carried. Councilman Stevens then moved that the rule or law requiring three readings of this ordinance on three different dates be dispensed with. Roll call vote: Cox, aye; Morgan, aye; Runge, aye; Spivey, aye; Stevens, aye. Carried unanimously. Councilman Spivey then moved for final adoption of ordinance and seconded by Councilman Stevens. Roll call vote: Cox, aye; Morgan, aye; Runge, aye; Spivey, aye; Stevens, aye. Mayor Potter then declared Ordinance No. 1985-128 duly passed and adopted. Mayor Potter reported that the Planning and Zoning Commission held public hearing on request by Iowa-Illinois Co. for rezoning and recommended that the entire 62 acre purchase be rezoned from R-1 single-family residential to M-1 industrial. Council discussion with representatives of Iowa-Illinois indicated that the west 850 feet running from highway 6 to the railroad tracks, approximately 38 acres, would be sufficient for sub-station use. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1979-83 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA BY CHANGING THE USE REGULATIONS OF CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM R-1 SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL TO M-1 INDUSTRIAL was introduced by Spivey.
