Stoffer presented preliminary plat of Gracehill Estates as redrawn to conform to all recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Commission concerning street width, sidewalks, lift station, looping of water mains and size of water mains. Stoffer suggested that when the revenue from the sewer fees in the subdivision covers the operating expenses of the lift station, the city could take over the lift station. Until that time, perhaps the city's utilities director could take care of the maintenance and the city could bill his time to the owners of the subdivision. This will be discussed at the time the final plat is presented.
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PROLIMINARY PLAT OF GRACEHILL SUBDIVISION was introduced by Stoner and seconded by Runge. Roll call vote: Flansburg, aye; Stoner, aye; Stratton, aye; Stratton, aye; Morgan, absent. Mayor Potter declared Resolution No. 1986-17 duly passed and adopted.
Motion Stoner second Stratton to approve request by Johnson County Sheriff's Department for increase in hourly rate from $14.00 to $14.50 per hour and to renew contract for 7 hours per week with all terms specified in the Agreement dated March 10, 1979. Carried unanimously.
Motion Flansburg second Runge to direct Mayor Potter to dispose of city owned firearm. Carried unanimously.
Hart reported that water samples from well no. 2 had been reported by the State Hygienic Lab as exceeding acceptable radioactive standards, even though all previous samples on the well have been substantially under the allowed limit. Hart will pursue the matter.
Hart reported that he will develop plan to repair the breaks in the sewer system causing the most infiltration.
Council consensus to direct attorney to send letter to railroad asking why the crossing was not repaired last summer.
Motion Flansburg second Stratton to approve clerk-treasurer's reports. Carried unanimously.
Motion Stoner second Stratton to approve bills and accept receipots. Carried unanimously.
Motion Runge second Stoner to adjourn at 7:35 p.m. Carried unanimously.
