Motion Brown, second Kee to close the Public Hearing and table this request to Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tiffin Fire Station. Ayes: Madden, Boyd, Brown, Janssen and Kee. Motion carried. A Public Hearing was opened by Chair Roger Janssen at 7:00 p.m. to hear input from any citizen wishing to speak either in favor of or against a request from Larry Pacha for a variance to use the old Post Office for an office space. The Post Office was grandfathered as a public use within a single residential area. Larry Pacha was present to explain that he would like to use it for a personal office and is requesting this use for only the length of time that he might own the property. Dan O'Halloran explained that the Planning and Zoning would recommend this variance as it is obvious that the building cannot be used as a home without complete gutting. Providing the variance would protect surrounding home owners from finding themselves next to a more disagreeable commercial sometime in the future. Dan explained that it was not obvious at this time whether Grant Street would eventually become a commercial street or a residential street. Mr. Pacha explained that he has recently retired but still has need for office space for his activities. The Public Hearing was closed at 7:12 p.m. Motion Boyd, second Madden to approve a variance to Larry Pacha to use the Old Post Office located on Grant Street for office commercial use until such time as Mr. Pacha no longer owns this property. When Mr. Pacha no longer owns the property the property shall revert use to its R-1 single family residential zoning use. Ayes: Janssen, Madden and Boyd. Nays: Brown, and Kee. Motion approved. Motion Brown, second Boyd to adjourn. Motion carried. 7:14 p.m. Roger Janssen, Chair City of Tiffin Board of Adjustment Margaret B. Reihman, City Clerk
