A regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council was brought to order by Mayor Glenn R. Potter on Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. at the Tiffin Fire Station. Council present: Dave Shaffer, Rodney Walls, Mike Gericke, Karin Dils and Jim Bartels. Also present: Engineer Mike Hart, Attorney Stephen Greenleaf, PZ Melvin Reeve, Chad Freeman, Joe Johnston, Building Inspector Greg Schott, Brett Mehmen and Brian Mehmen. Motion Gericke, second Dils to approve printed minutes and agenda. Ayes: Bartels, Gericke, Walls, Disl and Gericke. Motion carried. The City has been approved a 80-20 cost share for study and eventually improvement for Hwy#6 between Roberts Ferry and I-380. The study will consider turning lanes, underground wires, curb, gutter and sidewalk planning. The work is to be completed in cooperation with JCCOG. This is the first money available for this planning work and is necessary prior to funds for improvement of the highway. Hart reported that Tiffin is slated for construction money, but it would be difficult to say what might happen in the unusual funding times we are currently in, however, it was certain that study would preceed any construction in the area. Councilmember Bartels reported he would like to see money go for streets. Councilmember Shaffer volunteered that he could not see that all the money allotted would be needed for the study and remaining funds might be deferred to construction costs. Hart said study would need to start this year to hold allotment, however the study could extend easily a year into the future. Engineer Hart made report to council. IDOT Sewer Project continues, no testing has taken place yet. Hart reports damage to access road to the project, and he will report this claim to the project before close.
