CITY OF TIFFIN Work Session Meeting Wednesday, April 9, 2014 City Hall The Tiffin city council met in a work session on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at City Hall. Mayor Berner called the meeting to order at 6:31 PM. Roll Call: Kahler, Ryan, Petersen, & Bartels. Upton arrived 6:34 PM Absent: none. Also present: Engineer Frederick. Motion by Bartels to approve the agenda, seconded by Ryan. Motion carried. Street lights at City Park: Members reviewed documents provided for meeting from Sitelink. These are a bit different from the poles planned along Ireland as they are for a parking lot. There is a cost difference. We need four on the east side of the lot and six on the west side. It was discussed that we need aluminum, black poles which can hold banners. Lights should be more cobra style. Mayor Berner shared an example which all council members agreed would work well. The example was provided to the City Engineer to obtain cost estimates Discussion realignment of Kansas Ave. Mayor Berner provided a map of what Gene Charbon would like to see happen for re-alignment of Kansas Avenue. It fits well with the City’s long term land use plan which will allow the streets to match up well in the future. Splash Pad: Public Works Director Mehmen provided quotes and drawings from a vendor, as well as a sample of safety material. The two quotes are for approximately $30,000 and $36,000. The splash pad is budgeted for next fiscal year, but there are TIF funds we can spend down now for it. Council members want this advertised for the concrete and plumbing bids, but since it is under $100,000 it does not need to be formal bidding. Once we have the concrete and plumbing bids, we will have a better idea on how much we can spend on the splash pad equipment. Motion made by Petersen to adjourn, and seconded by Kahler.
