Recreation Center Equipment Fitness and Cardio Equipment – In July I started seeking layout recommendations and quotes for strength, cardio, and exercise equipment. It’s mostly between two vendors, Johnson Fitness, and Push Pedal Pull. The primary decision is determining whether we want the top of the line strength equipment, or slightly more budget friendly approach. Both options are perfectly suitable for the Tiffin Recreation Center. We will be purchasing the strength equipment, and leasing the cardio for 3 years at a time. This is a common approach, and offers the most value to members, with new cardio equipment coming in every 3 years that will match, and ensure our equipment stays fresh and operational. Another consideration is if we fill the space we have available with equipment, or if we save money initially and leave room to grow. My recommendation right now is to go with Johnson Fitness for both Strength and Cardio, and fill the space on the strength side, but leave ourselves a little room to grow with cardio and cut a few pieces out. Based on our funding level available, I am comfortable with either the top of the line strength equipment, or the more budget friendly line. Both will suit our needs, it really comes down to how much we want to spend, and how it looks aesthetically. Recreation Center Marketing Websites – Several months ago we made the move to RecDesk for our operational software for Parks and Rec. It handles all of our registrations, rentals, memberships, point of sale, etc. To get more information to the public, we could explore a website for the Recreation Center, very similar to the approach Mt. Vernon took. They also use RecDesk, and decided their own City Website was too difficult to use to get information out to the public about their recreation center. Their website is here - https://thelbc.com/. I have reached out to several businesses that build and manage websites, and received various quotes and scopes for the project. The key differences have been highlighted in the summary page. My initial gut reaction is that this website may not be 100% necessary today, but in 3-5 years, I think it’s something we’ll wish we had. I am leaning towards recommending we spend the extra money and go with a firm like de Novo, simply due to the added support and professional content writing that they offer, that will help free up time and resources for Tiffin Parks and Recreation.
