Minutes-8 /14/1969

Minutes of Special Council Meeting, August 14, 1969, Tiffin, Iowa. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Bream. Present: Ned Allen, Dale Flansburg, Fred Moore, and Ted Spivey. Also present were Mr. Neuzil and Mr. Reed. Absent: Glenn Potter. Purpose of this meeting was a public hearing on the 1970 budget. There were no objectors present. Dale Flansburg made the motion to approve the budget and Fred Moore seconded it. All in favor. Ned Allen made the motion to approve a building permit for Vernon Slade for an addition to his home. Ted Spivey seconded the motion. All in favor. Trees- Ed Filips of the Light. Co. has told Bill Bream that the Light Co. will help with the removal of the dead elms by the highway. They will cut them down below the lines. The Town will have to pay for the rest of the removal. Mayor Bream said he has received complaints from residents about Ronnie Alberts throwing the wires from around the newspapers all over. The Clerk will write the circulation manager of the Gazette asking him to speak to Ronnie about this. Water-Mr. Reed said Latta has put in a well. Chalupa will start work on the lines Monday and should be up to the school by the 22nd. The entire water project should be done by next June. Mr. Reed said the FHA has given the town an extra $5000 grant. This is to cover the increase in the last bids. The contract documents will be sent to the FHA in Des Moines. They will hold them there until the date of the bond closing. Ned Allen introduced and caused to be read a resolution entitled "Resolution approving contracts for the construction of a municipal waterworks system". Dale Flansburg moved the resolution be adopted and Fred Moore seconded it. By a roll call vote the vote was "Aye" Allen, Flansburg, Moore, and Spivey. "Nay" None. Ned Allen moved and Dale Flansburg seconded the motion to return all certified checks for bids on the water project. All in favor. Ned Allen made the motion to raise the Clerk's salary to $600 a year. Dale Flansburg seconded the motion. All in favor. This is due to the increased work with the water coming in, etc. The raise includes the month of August. Med Allen made the motion to adjourn. Fred Moore seconded it. All in favor.
