Hi Doug, here is what I put together. I would be happy to work with you or anyone else in coming up with a more detailed plan, this is just my initial thoughts and observations. A study will need to be done to find out more info on why this is happening and another study to determine specific plan to fix this dangerous problem. Thank you. Issues: • The red lines are where I believe are the most issues with excessive speeding as viewed by me and other neighbors (study could be done to verify). • The three X's are two car collisions and a death. Those are the incidents that I personally know about (more research could be done to identify all previous traffic incidents). Both car collisions involved parked cars overnight. People drive too fast through there and they hit cars that are parked. • The amount of traffic on a street with 52 houses, all with short driveways and short front yards, seems excessive. I'm doubting it is under 999 cars per day as the DOT's traffic map shows. • There are several businesses and a park on that residential street, one of them is a daycare. Across the street there is another daycare. Essentially two daycare centers right by each other is another reason why traffic is so bad. So I would also contend it is a zoning issue. • The time of day that there seems to be the most issues are morning between 7 and 8, afternoon between 4 and 6, and overnight. • People like to come from James, after driving 55 (supposed to be 45 MPH ) and they turn on Oakland Blvd. where it is 35 and think its ok to drive between 35 and 45 on Deer View when it's supposed to be 25. My personal experience: • Tailgating happens every day as I try to drive 25 on that road. • I have been honked at while pulling into my driveway because I didn't want to pull into my driveway at 25 MPH. • I have pulled out of my driveway and have been tailgated and almost hit by people driving too fast through the curve. I will look and see no cars, pull out, and a car is behind me and tailgating me to the point it is dangerous, and I have to pull over for them to pass. (I have video of one such incident, I can provide that if you want) • Almost every day I see people running the four-way stop by the park. • I have motioned for one person to slow down as he was speeding up the hill. When I did, a dude claiming to work at the sheriff’s department got out of his truck and screamed at me in from of my 3 year old while I was teaching him how to ride a bike. I called the sheriff as the dude told me too. A
