A member who completes Driver Operator Pumper or Driver Operator Aerial may be awarded a t-shirt, polo, or if the member achieves both certifications in the same year, a sweater. A member who completes Instructor I certification will be awarded a short sleeve and a long sleeve t-shirt and a polo shirt, or the member may choose a sweatshirt or a pullover in lieu of the t-shirts and polo shirt. A member who completes Instructor II certification will be awarded a short sleeve and a long sleeve t-shirt, a polo shirt, and the choice of a sweatshirt or a pullover. A member who completes Fire Officer I certification will be awarded a polo shirt and may choose between a sweatshirt or a pullover. A member who completes Fire Officer II certification will be awarded a short sleeve and a long sleeve t-shirt, a polo shirt, and the choice of a sweatshirt or a pullover. Upon earning Firefighter I certification and completing probation requirements, the member may be awarded a personalized helmet shield. Call Response Award Eligibility To be eligible for a non-uniform clothing call response award, a member must be either Firefighter I and EMT certified or Firefighter II certified at a minimum. A recruit (probationary) who is certified Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and/or EMT may be eligible under this category upon successful completion of the Department’s minimum training requirements and written approval to begin operational responses. Non-certified personnel or recruits are not eligible for call response awards. Upon meeting the minimum certification requirements, a recruit (probationary firefighter) or member’s eligibility for this program begins in the next applicable period (month, quarter, or year). The recruit or member must meet all criteria during the entire month, quarter, or year as applicable. For example, if the member obtains Firefighter II certification in January, the member will become eligible for a response award under this section in February. If this member is the top responder in February, then the member would earn an award. If the member is the top responder for January, the award would be given to the next highest member who meets the established criteria. Similarly, a member who first meets the minimum requirements in a given quarter will not be eligible until the next quarter for an award. For example, a member who obtains Firefighter I and EMT certification during the first quarter of the year will become eligible for a response award in the second quarter of the year. If this member is the top responder in the second quarter, then they would earn an award. Likewise, a certified recruit who joins the department in July but is the top responder from July to January is not eligible for the yearly top responder award because they were not on the Department for the entire year period. Timing of Awards Call Response Awards will be made based on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly evaluation period. The awards generally will be made as follows:
