CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL – NOTES FOR WORK SESSION ITEMS
December 15, 2023
• Placer.ai and Retail Strategies are two companies that Eric Schnedler and I met with at the
ICSC Conference in May. They are two economic development ‘enhancement’
companies that supply consumer demographical data and business recruiting information
to assist and to a certain extent for some cities, even perform a significant amount of the
economic development activities for a community. With the passage of the local option
sales tax and a desire to continue to increase the City’s economic development efforts,
both of these companies will provide a presentation for the council to see if any of their
approached (and each company will be a little different) might be a good fit for Tiffin’s
efforts. As you can see from the regular agenda, this is not an action item. At this point it
is only a discussion item for the council in the work session as we enter the budget
process. Tiffany Huber will present for Placer.ai and John Tiedt will present for Retail
Strategies. I believe I have left enough time for questions after each demo but if we need
to have a follow up at another meeting, that would be just fine.
• Time permitting, I want to give an update on Tuesday night on the improvements to the
Highway 6/Kimberlite intersection along with the entrance and road extension into the
Jim Bartels Tiffin City Park. I’ve been working with MMS to prepare bid documents but
want to discuss the general timeline of the project, the cost breakdown and the cost split
with the developer.
