K-4 - Sidewalk Change, 300 block Summerhays - Original Town Phase 3

AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: May 2, 2024 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Sidewalk change for Phase 3 of the Original Town Urbanization Project in the 300 block of Summerhays and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Motion SYNOPSIS: Phase 1 of the Original Town project had a similar situation as to what is shown on the attached plan sheet. On College Street there were two large trees that were going to interfere with the new sidewalk on the east side of the road. The council discussed this issue at length and exhausted every option before the property owner agreed to remove the trees. On the attached plan sheet you can see on the east side of the road (310 Summerhays) the faded tree is going to be in the way of the new sidewalk. The property owner would really like the City to do all it can to save this tree. I have talked to both the engineer and the contractor and the only options to save the tree would be to move the entire sidewalk two feet closer to the curbline or bend/curve the sidewalk around the tree. I will have more information on this for Tuesday night. Please take a look at this situation prior to the meeting.
