2010 Code of Ordinances
Chapter 38: Alarm Systems and False Alarms
The text in force today, section by section, as far as it has been consolidated, with each section's history. Last amended December 7, 2021. Amended by 1 ordinance since 2010.
Unofficial compilation built from the City's published 2010 Code chapters and the text of adopted ordinances. Effective dates are inferred from adoption records; scanned chapters were OCR'd. The City of Tiffin's adopted Code of Ordinances governs. Not legal advice.
This chapter is not on the city website; its 2010 text is not in the archive. Sections not amended since 2010 are not listed: the 2010 text of this chapter is not in the archive, so only the sections later ordinances set out are known.
Dates: an Iowa ordinance takes effect when it is published after adoption. Where the clerk's certificate records the publication date it is used; otherwise the adoption date stands in for it.
In the 2026 draft recodification (not adopted) this is chapter 38 (Alarm Systems and False Alarms).
38.01 PURPOSE¶
The purpose of this chapter is to assess a civil penalty for false alarms in Tiffin received by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office or Fire Department which require a Deputy to report to the scene or a response from the Fire Department to the scene. False alarms expose the public to danger as well as increasing the costs on the City and Fire Departments to respond to those alarms.
