CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
August 15, 2025
• The North Park Road Project continues to be on schedule and will be open for the first
day of school. Last Friday we had another meeting onsite with MSA, Boomerang,
representatives from the school and the Sheriff’s Department to make sure the plan for
moving phase 1 further north and the complete phase 1 shutdown meets everyone’s
expectations for traffic flow and safety.
• We think Rec Fest this past weekend went well. We heard a lot of compliments on the
new location. Having everything together in close proximity seemed to be appreciated
by the majority of those who attended. Monday morning staff had a debriefing session
to discuss the things that went well and the things that can be improved upon for next
year. One aspect for next year that we must follow through on is having a committee to
help plan the event. Rec Fest is simply becoming too large of an event for a small group
of City staff to organize and carryout. We did get a handful of people to signup who
said they would like to help next year but we could certainly use several more
individuals added to the list.
• Work continues with the Special Census. We are now having weekly meetings with the
regional special census bureau team. We are quickly approaching the internet self-
response period that starts September 3rd and are also working through the space
requirements for bureau’s team. Current space at City Hall is going to be tight but we
should have that issue resolved soon. Before we go live with the dates, we would also
like to review dates for hosting at least three Public Information Meetings.
• Attached is a proposal for a sand volleyball court(s) to be built in the Jim Bartels Tiffin
City Park. Please review the proposal before the meeting on Tuesday night. I will have
additional information on this during my administrator’s report.
• This year’s Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference will be held in Des Moines,
September 17-19. For those of you who would like to go, please let me know and I will
get you registered. In previous years, we have done a nice job of attending this
conference. For those that will be attending, we will coordinate transportation to the
conference. Here is the link to the conference schedule.
