STAFF REPORT TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: August 28, 2025 TITLE: 2025 Special Census – Marketing, Recruitment, and Community Engagement Purpose To provide an update on the City’s ongoing efforts to promote the 2025 Special Census and encourage online self-response prior to the October 6 deadline. Marketing & Outreach Efforts • The City has partnered with the KCRG Marketing Team to promote the Special Census through TV commercials and digital advertising. • Radio ads are currently airing to further encourage residents to complete the census online. Field Representative Recruitment • We are still in need of additional applicants for Field Representative positions. • Continued outreach and promotion are underway to fill these roles and ensure adequate staffing for follow-up efforts. Community Engagement Events To increase visibility and participation, staff will be setting up Special Census information tables at the following community events: • Clear Creek Amana Home Football Games: o August 29 o September 19 o October 3 • Drive-In Movie Night in the Park (hosted by Infuse Church): o Free popcorn will be distributed along with census information. Public Information Meetings To further educate residents and answer questions about the census, the City will host public information meetings on the following dates: • Thursday, September 4 • Tuesday, September 9 • Wednesday, September 18 Council Involvement We kindly request that City Council members attend any of the above events to help promote the census and engage with residents. Your presence would greatly support our outreach efforts. Goal These combined efforts aim to: • Boost online self-response rates before the October 6 deadline. • Minimize the need for door-to-door follow-ups by U.S. Census Representatives. 1
