Barbara Bechtoldt reported that the flood plain map may not be final because it is not apparent that the government's engineering firm took into consideration the papers filed which showed the dike. She will check to see if the engineers have reviewed all information. Clerk reported that Kammerer stated that Mr. Scheetz should take responsibility for concern about the trailer court because he would be affected. The city should not have to concern itself with that area. However, the sewer plant is in the flood plain area on the map. Unless the city approves the map or shows that the sewer plant should not be included in the flood plain area, the city will not be able to get any federal money for expansion of plant. Also, if the map in not approved, the residents of the flood plain areas will not be able to get flood insurance. Kammerer recommends removing the sewer from the flood plain area, if possible. Motion Spivey second Rohret to instruct Engineer Kammerer to gather more information showing that the sewer plant is outside of the 100 year flood area and file it with the government and appeal the map if necessary. Carried unanimously. Cox reported that he talked with Mr. Voparil about purchasing the property at 221 Main Street for park expansion. Voparil would not take less than $26,000.00. Bechtoldt pointed out that because the house is rented, the city could be responsible for providing up to $4,000.00 for relocation expenses. Council consensus to drop further inquiries due to cost. Motion Brown second Rohret to adjourn at 8:00 p.m. Carried unanimously. GERALD COX, MAJOR PRO-TEM ADELIA S. KERN, CLERK-TREASURER
