Perry Beckler asked council if they would be interested in buying a portion of the tract of land they recently purchased from the railroad. Potter expressed interest in moving the fire station to the railroad site and using the current fire station for city building. Brown will talk with fire department at tomorrow night's meeting. Other council members did not express interest in land. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1979-83 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF TIFFIN, IOWA BY CHANGING THE USE REGULATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM R-1 SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL TO M-1 INDUSTRIAL was introduced by Brown and read by the clerk. Motion Rohret second Brown to adopt Ordinance No. 1983-118. Roll call vote: Brown, aye; Cox, aye; Spivey, aye; Rohret, aye; Stevens, aye. Carried unanimously. Motion Stevens second Rohret to waive the rule or law requiring three readings of this ordinance on three different dates. Roll call vote: Brown, aye; Cox, aye; Spivey, aye; Rohret, aye; Stevens, aye. Mayor declared Ordinance 1983-118 duly passed and adopted. Perry Beckler reported that there is a water line running through his property owned by Ray Scheetz and therefore, it is necessary to move his building to one side of the water line because Scheetz was not willing to make any agreements concerning the line. Spivey pointed out that since the water line was owned by Scheetz as a service line to his trailer court, the city did not have anything to do with this matter. Motion Brown second Cox to issue building permit to Perry Beckler for building 60' x 80' at southeast corner of Railroad and Main Streets to be used as a vehicle repair shop. Roll call vote: Brown, aye; Cox, aye; Spivey, aye; Rohret, aye; Stevens, aye. Carried unanimously. Motion Spivey second Stevens to approve clerk-treasurer's reports. Carried unanimously.
