Minutes April 9, 1986 Jim Neuzil reported to council that delinquent water/sewer fees in the amount of $220.12 for property at 210 Summerhays Street did not show up during the title search and were not paid when he bought the property from Earl Volkman in May of 1985. Clerk reported that fees were certified by council resolution to county auditor on February 18, 1985 for placement on the tax rolls. City attorney advised Neuzil to check with the abstracting company who apparently missed the item when updating the abstract. Council consensus to purchase chain saw so Brown can remove dead limbs from trees in ditches. Engineer will check into drainage problem at county shed. Attorney will check and see who is responsible for maintaining culverts. Council consensus to direct clerk to write letters under Ordinance No. 90 to Louis Voparil for 230 Main Street and lot 5 Sadler Subdivision and Chris Coblentz for 101 Summerhays Street to clean up trash and debris on properties. Council consensus to direct clerk to write letter to Heartland Railroad Company asking them to clean up brush, iron and railroad ties left on properties surrounding railroad tracks. Council placed consideration of reduction of agricultural land tax rate on May agenda. Council directed attorney to draft amendment to Ordinance No. 90 concerning open burning and place on May agenda. Council consensus to direct attorney to write letter to Ox Yoke Inn in Amana and ask them to remove sign on Interstate 80 which directs people to take Tiffin exit to Ox Yoke Inn. Motion Stevens second Stoner to approve clerk-treasurer's reports. Carried unanimously. Motion Flansburg second Runge to approve bills and accept receipts. Carried unanimously.
