The Tiffin City Council met on Monday, June 30, 1986 in special session at the Tiffin fire station in order to discuss sewer line infiltration and water loan update. Mayor Potter called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Stoner, Runge and Flansburg. Morgan and Stevens were absent. Also present was Mike Hart.
Hart reported that there is a company televising sewer lines in West Branch now and that they will come to Tiffin for 75 cents per foot if they do it as their next job. The regular rate is $2.00 per foot. Tiffin has 8,517 1/2 feet of sewer line, and this would determine where infiltration is coming from.
Motion Runge second Flansburg to direct Mike Hart to smoke test sewer lines to determine problem areas and to hire G. W. Pete Howe of Spencer, Iowa to televize existing sewer lines at 75 cents per foot up to 8,518 feet. Carried unanimously.
Council directed clerk to place sewer rate increase of $2.00 per unit on July agenda and to notify residents about smoke testing.
Hart reported that FMHA loan request has been revised down to $87,000.00 which would require a debt service of $2.65 per month per unit.
Motion Stoner second Flansburg to authorize mayor to sign Agreement for Engineering Services with FMHA and Mike Hart for pending water loan. Carried unanimously.
Council directed clerk to place water rate increase on July agenda.
Motion Stoner second Flansburg to adjourn at 7:50 p.m. Carried unanimously.
