Mayor Potter: The majority of the people here do not want sidewalks. I propose making Third Street a one way from College to the school going west. There'd be no exceptions for ball games or anything else. I'm sure we can plow the snow. Paul Slaymaker: I disagree. Tim Spivey: If we do something now and the school doesn't like it, we could come back with a petition. Greenleaf: I will check the Iowa Code for the specific procedure. Jeanne Smith: It would help to have the principal make an announcement at school. Council consensus to place issue of one way street on Third between College and high school on the agenda for tomorrow night's regular council meeting. Mayor Potter: At tomorrow night's council meeting, we'll make Third Street one way to the west between College Street and the high school and set barricades along one side to mark a walkway. I'll call the principal and the sheriff's department. Nothing will be done at this time about sidewalks. Paul Slaymaker: What about a four way stop sign at Grant and Third? Mayor Potter: I think that when I checked into that once before I found out we couldn't do it because Grant Street is the farm-to-market road. We could only put stop signs on Third Street. I'll check into it though. Carrie Stratton: Who would put it out and take it in? Misty Herring: I'd do if for free. Motion Morgan second Stratton to adjourn at 8:00 p.m. Carried unanimously.
