March - 1998 Council, 4a. The budget proposes an increase in tax money received from $96,000 to $97,920. The city has no tax on agricultural land within the city this year. 4b. You had asked me to place these amendments on this month's agenda. Attorney Greenleaf has met with the Planning and Zoning and received all their input. This month the Planning and Zoning has met with Mike Singer and he has received their input. Attorney Greenleaf is working on the written draft. This adoption may be moved to the month of April so that everyone will have a chance to read through the changes. 5a. Mike Singer has arranged for Lee Benfield, Director of this IDOT region to come to the meeting and visit regarding the I-380 interchange. Also Jeff Davidson from JCCOG will be present to discuss speed study on Highway # 6. 5c. Brad Neuman of JCCOG will come to talk about the recycling grant that was awarded for recycling bins. 5d. GTE has called and asked to be on the agenda to talk about a new service called NEW LOCAL CALLING AREA. I don't know if this means that the full school district will be in the same toll free calling area. Presently, we can call Iowa City with no toll, but we cannot call the Amana School. To call Amana is long distance. 5e. I have put the zoning & subd amendments on the agenda in case you want to get this done this month. 5d. Mike Hart will give more information about bridging project. 5f. We have approximately six properties with excessive delinquencies. I would like you to give me ok to certify these to the Jo. Co. Auditor if they are not forthcoming. I always try to work with delinquent accounts, but sometimes nothing happens. 7b. Remember that Mike Singer is asking that you return your ideas for capital improvements for the future. I will enclose another sheet for you. 7f. I am always working with the Postmaster on addressing. When builders file application for permit, I provide address numbers at that time. The process is slightly aggravated this month because Clarence Sewell made up some of his house numbers last summer without talking to me.
