Tiffin City Council October 14, 1998 A regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council was brought to order by Mayor Pro Tem Al Kern 6:30 p.m., October 14, 1998 at the Tiffin Fire Station. Council members present: Al Kern, Jim Bartels, Mike Gericke and Rodney Walls. Arriving 6:35 p.m. Council person Mike Ryan. Also present: Attorney Greenleaf, Planner Mike Singer, Fire Chief Tom Bigelow and Brett Mehmen. Motion Bartels, second Gericke to approve the printed agenda and minutes. Ayes: Gericke, Bartels, Walls, and Kern. Motion carried. No citizens were present for the Community Forum. The Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation Service was not present. Council member Mike Ryan arrived at 6:35 p.m. The council considered the outdoor liquor permit application for Slim’s Tavern. Motion Walls, second Ryan to table the application request until further information could be obtained regarding plans. Ayes: Walls, Kern, Bartels, Ryan and Gericke. Motion carried. Motion Walls, second Kern to approve a request for subdivision in Johnson County submitted by Jim and Karen Anderson south of Tiffin providing that the county be notified of grand fathered use of zoning on the existing shop and also the sewer/utility right of way easements be included for any possible need in the future. Mike Singer will relay these concerns to the county. Ayes: Gericke, Kern, Walls, Bartels and Ryan. Motion carried. Motion Ryan, second Walls to approve a Resolution # 1998-16 STREET LIGHTING RESOLUTION for two poles on Kimberlite Street. Ayes: Gericke, Walls, Kern, Bartels and Ryan. Motion carried. On the 14th day of October 1998, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson Bartels introduced Ordinance No. 1998-221, and moved that it be introduced and given its first reading. The motion was seconded by Councilperson Gericke. Ayes: Bartels, Gericke, Kern, Ryan and Walls. Motion carried. Five members of the council being present and having voted “Aye”, Mayor Pro Tem Alan Kern declared the motion carried, and Ordinance No. 1998-221 entitled POSTING LOCATIONS, was read the first time and discussed and placed on record. On the 14th day of October, 1998, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson Bartels moved and second by Walls, that Ordinance No. 1998-221, entitled POSTING LOCATIONS be given its second and third reading and that the rules requiring that the readings be given on three different dates be dispensed and that the Ordinance No. 1998-221 be given it final reading. Ayes: Bartels, Gericke, Walls, Ryan and Kern. Motion carried. Five members of the council being present and having voted “Aye”, Mayor Pro Tem Alan Kern declared the motion carried and Ordinance No. 1998-221 was then placed on its last reading and was read the last time.
