Tiffin City Council August 14, 2002 A regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council was brought to order Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Glenn Potter at Tiffin Fire Station. Council present: Jim Bartels, Karin Dils, Mike Gericke, and Dave Shaffer. Absent: Rodney Walls. Also present: Johnson County deputy sheriff, Iowa City Press Citizen reporter, Bill Warren, Joe Schrock, Vic Zender, Mellen and Building Inspector Greg Schott. Motion Bartels, second Gericke to approve the printed agenda and minutes. Ayes: Gericke, Bartels, Shaffer and Dils. Motion carried. Joe Schrock visited with the council in community forum explaining that it would be difficult for him to install sidewalks at his property in Songbird Estates because he has not yet sold his home to continue on to begin building activity on the new lot where sidewalk is required. He explained that he planned a new home and new sidewalk on the lot, but could not have it finished by the date required by the city. Motion Gericke, second Dils to allow an extension to 9/30/02 to Joe Schrock for installation of sidewalk on his lot located in Songbird Estates and those weeds on the empty lot be kept in check. Johnson County Deputy Sheriff Latta explained that cigarette permit licensing will checked in the City of Tiffin over the next year. On the 14th day of August, 2002 at regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson Bartels introduced Ordinance e No. 200-256, entitled,: An Ordinance Replacing the Flood Plain Management Ordinance,: of the municipal Code of Tiffin, Iowa; Amending map date to 8-20-2002 with revision #19103C1IID0, 19103C0060D, 19103C0066D, 19103C0070D amending city ordinances #185 and #252 and moved that it be given its first reading. Councilperson Dils seconded the motion. Ayes: Gericke, Bartels, Dils and Shaffer. Nays: None. Absent: Walls. Four members of the council being present and having voted “aye” Mayor Glen R. Potter declared the motion carried, and Ordinance No. 2002-256 is read the first time and discussed and placed on record. Thereupon, it was moved by Councilperson Shaffer and seconded by Councilperson Gericke that the laws and rules requiring that ordinance be considered and voted on for passage at tow council meetings and on two separate dates be dispense with and that Ordinance No. 2002-286 be placed on its last reading, Ayes: Bartels, Gericke, Dils and Shafer, Nays: None. Absent: Walls. Motion carried. Four members of the council being present and having voted “aye” Mayor Glen R. Potter declared the motion carried and Ordinance No. 2002-256 entitled, “An Ordinance Replacing the Flood Plain Management Ordinance of the Municipal Code of Tiffin, Iowa Amending map date to 8-10-1001 with revision #19103CIND0,19103C0060D, 19103C0066D, 19103C0070D amending city ordinance #185 and #252 be placed upon
