Present: Bill Verry, Ted Spivey, Glen Potter, Wayne Stratton, Bob Svatos Also Mr. William Tucker and Mr. William Nicholas
Absent: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor O'Toole. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Wayne moved, Bill seconded the motion to approve the cigarette license for the Tiffin Inn. Carried.
School Signal Light. Mr. Letner of the Highway Commission told the Mayor that we cannot replace our school light unless we go to their system, which would cost the amount of the estimate furnished by Nate Moore. However, we can maintain the light as it is. We would have to consider if we have a new lighting system would it make it unnecessary to have someone watch the crossing.
Highway Ordinance. Mr. Letner informed the Mayor that the ordinance had been passed by a previous council giving up our access rights except as stated in that ordinance, and the Highway Commission must have the same ordinance (except for listing the accesses in the approved manner) approved by the Council in order for the Commission to receive money due them from the government. The last legislature amended the Code so that the Highway Commission now has the prerogative of setting the speed limit on any highway. The town has no jurisdiction unless the ordinance specifically states it.
Sewer. Mr. Nicholas and Mr. Tucker explained the feasibility and questions likely to come up in connection with the proposed sewage system.
