The manhole was then located on the center line of the Brooks Addition alley extended and carried over and located outside of the fence. Now we are faced with the problem of servicing two houses and here was what appeared to be private property and we couldn't put an 8-inch city sewer on private property and yet we had to service the second house. It would have been expensive to jog with an extra manhole and you would be in trouble because it would be on private property over there. You don't have access to the alley because it is fences off as private property. Decided that the thing to do was to put in the 4-inch lateral to Demory and this is what we told the contractor to do, and Glenn said he got the approval orally. What he did for reasons I can't explain was come up with the lateral and put in a "Y" so he therefore has a double party on this stretch of 4-inch lateral. That is the only case in town that I know of where there is a 4-inch lateral serving more than one house. What Glenn proposes to do is make the existing lateral, the Stratton lateral and put in a 4-inch lateral from alley to serve Demory. It means breaking into the manhole,. Putting in an 8-inch line would mean putting in another manhole and it isn't a long enough run.
Stratton: I still don't like the damage to the lawn.
Reed: Glenn is going to fix the clothesline pole. The three items that we talked about are the clothesline pole, the seeding of the dirt, and fixing the ditch. I finally got him to fix the ditch. The lawn was never seeded, and he should have. Sod would be in order.
Stratton: As far as the permission was concerned, I probably could have stopped him, but he had the fences down before my wife went out. Another thing, does the town own that alley? I don't doubt but what my fence is off, but on the other hand, I know I own that street.
Reed: Don't know who owns the alley, but we are going to have to find out for other reasons.
Bill Verry asked when Mrs. Rogers would be paid for the land, and the Mayor said that as soon as the town gets the abstract information from Powers it will be up to Mrs. Rogers.
Tentative dates for the Christmas party of Dec. 13 or 20; Bill Verry volunteered to contact Villhauer about acting as Santa Claus again this year.
Wayne moved, Glen seconded the motion to adjourn.
