CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
March 12, 2021
• Carter & Associates expects to return to work on Trail Phase 7 the week of March 22nd.
They are currently still placing fill over the pipe in the ditch. They are about 40%
complete with that portion of the project.
• The City’s Auditors have virtually been working on the City’s exam this week. We
opted for an exam this year as opposed to an audit because of the conversion of the
City’s operating software happening mid-year and the difficulties that would present in
gathering some of the information. So far, everything is moving along nicely even
though they are not here at City Hall.
• The City has received several inquiries on whether or not we will be having City-Wide
Garages Sales and a City-Wide Clean-up again this year. I was able to contact most of
you last week to confirm the desire to have both of those events. With the council’s
verbal approval on Tuesday night, we would like to confirm the dates of May 8th for
the City-Wide Garage Sales and May 15th for the City-Wide Clean-up. The only
change to either of them would be the time of the City-Wide Clean-up will be from
8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. instead of ending at noon.
• The budget has been entered into the Department of Management’s website. Attached
is the FY 2021-2022 Notice of Public Hearing for the special city council meeting on
Tuesday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. As you can see, the City’s total tax levy stays
consistent at $11.80 as it has for the last six years.
• There are a handful of electric services that still need to be put underground before
Alliant Energy can start removing the rest of the utility poles in Phase Two of the
Original Town project. It is estimated that work will take another 2-4 weeks. Once
that is completed, Rathje Construction will mobilize and begin the street work.
• We are putting together the landscaping plan for the roundabout island. The plan is to
put a 6-foot apron of decorative rock from the backside of the inner paved portion
around the entire circle. We will then grass the center, fill that area in with decorative
shrubs and flowering trees and then reinstall the flagpole on the backside of the wall.
Examples of the decorative rock will be available to view at City Hall.
• Just a friendly reminder that I will be out of the office from March 16-23. I will
however be available by phone, e-mail or text.
