CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
June 11, 2021
• The Public Works Department was able to find the issue(s) with the north most
fountain in the big pond. Everything has been repaired and the fountain was up and
running earlier this week. The lights on the fountain however, need some attention as
well and should be fixed as soon as the materials arrive.
• Phase Two of the Original Town Project and the Permeable Paving Project resumed
last week with the return of dry weather. Both are progressing well. Rathje almost has
all of the storm sewer installed and Nolan’s continues to add the fabric and layers of
rock for the parking lot. However, Trail Phase 7 continues to stay stagnant because of
the difficulties with Iowa Interstate Railroad. They continue to be unresponsive to the
contractor, Hart-Frederick and the City. I have contacted the IDOT to try and get some
assistance from them though on the situation.
• The Public Works Department continues to use and move the speed trailer around to
different areas in town where we have received reports of speeding. So far we think it
is working very well.
• To follow-up on a brief discussion we had at the last meeting, if you who would like us
to order City of Tiffin business cards for you we will pass around a sign-up to make
sure we have the correct contact information.
• Time permitting in the regular meeting, I would like to talk to the council about
expanding the City’s solar opportunities for more its facilities and buildings.
