CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
July 2, 2021
• Item K-4 – Although the council had previously approved this land purchase in
November of 2020, enough time has pasted with the delays in the abstracts being
updated that it is recommended the council re-approve the purchase agreement. That is
why this item is on the agenda again.
• The Emergency Access Road from the end of Village Drive to South Park Road is now
completed. Road Closed signs are at both ends of the road to make sure people know it
is an emergency access road and not a through public street.
• Project Updates:
o Phase Two of the Original Town Project continues to move along nicely despite
the on-and-off rain we’ve had the last couple of weeks. A progress meeting is
scheduled for Friday afternoon so if there is anything addition to report on the
project, I will do that Tuesday night.
o Contact has finally been made with Iowa Interstate Railroad but that has not
changed any of the progress. The information they have requested has been
submitted by the contractor but they are yet to schedule the flaggers or even
respond to the request for flaggers to be on site to finish the final section of
trail.
o Trail Phase 6 has a pre-construction meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 10th.
o Both Permeable Paving Projects are in progress as the contractor started on the
section by the Dog Park last week.
o As Brian Detert mentioned at the last council meeting during his report, the
Public Works Department has started on the Water Filling Station project. This
will be located just east of the Wastewater Treatment Facility. The unit is still a
couple of weeks out for delivery yet but utility work, the cement pad and the
gravel turnaround area are almost completed. I will try to have some pictures
of this on Tuesday night.
• A quick follow-up from the last meeting, the Public Works Department was able to
find/create a flat enough spot on the north side of the big pond to install a garbage can.
• Just a friendly reminder that I will be out of the office July 14th – July 16th at the
IaCMA Summer Conference.
