TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
DATE: July 12, 2021
AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Engineering Services Agreement with Hart-
Frederick Consultants for the Trunkline Sewer Main Interceptor Project and
Council Action as Needed
ACTION: Motion
SYNOPSIS: In February of 2019 Ben Carhoff with Hart-Frederick Consultants conducted a
Sanitary Sewer Capacity Study to determine the impact of the City’s continued growth. The
results of the study recommended several, but relatively minor, sewer upgrades. One of the
first recommendations on the list was a sewer interceptor line(s) to reduce capacities on
certain sewer mains leading to the treatment facility. With that study, and as part of the 2020
General Obligation Bond, the City borrowed $750,000 for this project. Attached is an
Engineering Services Agreement from Hart-Frederick to design, bid and inspect the
interceptor project.
Also attached with the proposal is a map of the locations of these interceptor lines. One line
will be from a manhole on Goldfinch Drive between Ponds Court and Potter Street to a
manhole off of Brown Street near the railroad. The other line will be from a manhole at
Croell Avenue and Goldfinch Drive to another manhole on Croell Avenue just north of Calla
Lily Way.
