Each member of the City Council, Mayor Berner, and City Administrator Boldt were all interviewed as well as
discussions were had with residents and personnel from the Clear Creek Amana School District. City Council
meetings and other events make it difficult for everyone involved to sometimes truly speak candidly and the
good news from all the interviews conducted with elected and City officials was this; the overwhelming
majority are happy with the current services.
The table below outlines the feedback received during these individual meetings:

Mayor Berner and several council members talked at length about the depth of services they feel the Sheriff’s
Office provides with extra detectives, access specialized units such as SWAT, narcotics investigators, K9, etc.
Law enforcement services and the school district were common threads amongst all those interviewed. In the
past, both the Clear Creek Amana Schools and the City were interested in working on a joint proposal for a
potential school resource officer or a community officer. Many elected officials feel calls for the service
relating to the school occupy a great deal of time the City pays for and believes the school should share some
of these expenses. While there is certainly a logical position, this is not a realistic expectation and is not
something which generally occurs across Iowa. As directed by the Council and Mayor, the tables below break
down calls for service relating to the Schools within the City.
