CHAPTER 155 BUILDING CODES 7. Delete Section 101.4.5 Fire prevention and replace with the following: “The provisions of the 2024 International Fire Code and as amended in this chapter shall apply to matters affecting or relating to structures, processes and premises from the hazard of fire and explosion arising from the storage, handling or use of structures, materials or devices; from conditions hazardous to life, property or public welfare in the occupancy of structures or premises; and from the construction, extension, repair, alteration or removal of fire suppression and alarm systems or fire hazards in the structure or on the premises from occupancy or operation.” 8. Delete Section 101.4.6 Energy and replace with the following: “The provisions of the State of Iowa Energy Conservation Code shall apply to all matters governing the design and construction of buildings for energy efficiency.” 9. Delete Section 101.4.7 Existing Buildings and replace with the following: “The Provisions of the International Existing Building Code shall apply to matters governing the repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition to and relocation of existing buildings.” 10. Delete Section 105.1 Required and replace with the following: “Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit.” 11. Delete Section 105.1.1 Issuance of permits and replace with the following: “No permit shall be issued to an individual who does not have a valid license to perform such work.” 12. Delete Section 105.1.2 Licenses required and replace with the following: a) State of Iowa electrical contractor license with a class A master electrician for all electrical work defined by the State of Iowa contractor licensing program. b) State of Iowa master license for hydronic, mechanical, medical gas and plumbing work defined by State of Iowa contractor licensing program. c) National Institute for certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III for any person designing water-based fire protection system. d) National Institute for certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III for any person designing fire alarm system. e) City of Tiffin sewer and water installer license. 13.
