Significant Initiatives or Programs 2021 The Mayor and City Council identified the following initiatives and programs as the most urgent or important. Top Priority Items – within the next 12-24 months 1. Purchase Land for Joint Public Safety Building with Johnson County Ambulance and EMA 2. Upgrade North Park Road 3. Review and Develop a Plan for additional Staffing Levels to address hiring needs 4. Develop a Plan to recruit more Retail/Hotel to Tiffin 5. Additional Solar Power for City Facilities Note: A complete list of all significant initiatives or programs by the Mayor, City Council and Department Heads is attached as Exhibit E & F. Long-term Significant Initiatives or Programs 2021 The Mayor and City Council identified the following long-term initiatives and programs. Top Long-term Priority Items – within the next 3-10 years 1. Improve Water Quality – Conversion of Water Treatment Plant to Reverse Osmosis (Implementation) 2. Urbanization of Highway 6/Sidewalks 3. Build Second Water Tower 4. Build a Recreation Building with room for an Outdoor Pool or Aquatic Center 5. Upgrade to WWTP Note: A complete list of all significant initiatives or programs by the Mayor, City Council and Department Heads is attached as Exhibit G & H. Team Building Agreements The Mayor and City Council briefly reviewed a list of ideas and suggestions relating to TEAM Building and building a better working relationship. The list of TEAM Building suggestions is identified as Exhibit I & J. Final Comments This was a very good goal setting session. There was a lot of positive discussion and direction on the various issues and projects that were identified as priorities both short and long term. An action plan will be developed by the City Staff to help review the top priorities from the Significant Initiatives or Programs as well as the Long-term Significant Initiatives or Programs lists. The action plan for each goal will define the steps needed to accomplish the various tasks or objectives. It is also recommended the City take the time to review the lists of the priority items to monitor the progress that is made on each item on a quarterly or bi-annual basis preferably at a work session. The City could use a format that shows the project or item side by side with a comment that updates the City Council and the residents of the City on the progress that has been made on each item at the end of each quarter. In planning and preparing for our goal setting sessions, this time of the year, both fiscal and calendar, seems to work well. With Council approval we will plan on the same timeframe for next year.
